2003 rio 1.6 lt mine gets about 41mpg with new fuel filter ,platnium plgs ,syn oil mobile 1 , i use seafoam in my gas before every oil change . and about every 6 months i seafoam the motor. probably a little over kill but hey keeps it in good working order .
I think you found the secreat, however I use stock plugs and no Seafoam. Watch that plug gap .028 for best performance. My last trip to Gma's 41 mph. Damm thats slow. How bout mpg.
My 2003 Rio gets from 34 to over 37 on the highway with pure gasoline. Thats going 70 to 75 mph. With the E10 they are putting in practicly every pump now in Kansas my mileage drops. E10 will get me 24 to 27 mpg going 70 to 75 mph. In order to increase my mileage with E10 on the highway to about 30 to 32mpg I can go no faster than 60 to 65 mph. Rios are not made for any ethanol. I pay more for the pure gas at Shell. Faster farther.
my 02 Cinco (manual) with a 1.6L swap gets about 30 - 32MPG. I do 80 - 90% highway between 60 & 65.
I know I have some engine oil sludge I need to take care of. The plugs, wires, Coil pack & O2 Sensors "should" be replaced soon... but honestly replacing the motor/tranny mounts & figuring out what's wrong with the power steering pump is a bigger priority at the moment
