Default Kia Rio sputters and dies

My 2002 Kia Rio has decided to lose power, sputter and die. It will restart imediately, I am wondering if any one else has had this problem. It is quit cold now and I am suspicious of the fuel filter freezing. Any other ideas

if its not water in the fuel, its either the MAF has decided to take a vacation, or your timing belt has.

unplug the MAF sensor (with the car off, obviously) and see if it runs any better.

I believe it is what the air filter housing is mounted on. My problem was water in my fuel filter, It is under the car below the rear driver side seat.

This happened to me as well, luckily I anticipated automotive failure when I bought a Kia.

My 2002 did something similar about every 40k miles, turns out it was plugs AND the plug wires. Its a cheap enough fix to try.

+1 Nicthkia. My kia recently quit on me as well. However I anticipated automotive failure when I paid $10,000 for a brand new car. The car had 125K miles and was in need for a new clutch and pressure plate as well. Anyways, donated the car.
