Default Flue gage not working. 2002 Kia Rio 97K miles

So I bought a 2002 Kia Rio with 97K miles and the flue gage does not work.
Any ideas? It reads all they way to the bottom.

Thanks

Hmm check for the connecters to gas tank. This may sound stupid but did you fill the tank up at all as in letting it top off?

Most likely you will have bad connections on the terminals to the sender unit in the tank. The gauges themselves are usually fairly reliable. The other thing to check would be the relay for the instrument panel. Sometimes sender units can fail but it is less likely. If the connections are clean and tight and the relay checks out ok then I would look at getting the sender unit checked out.

In the Kia website manual, it tells you how to check the sending unit and guage by using a volt-ohm meter

Is the connector under the back seat?

Thanks

I'm not sure if this would help but here are some pictures of the fuel pump and sending unit. The white connector is the pump motor and sending unit.

The connection will be on the top of the tank, I'm not sure on your model but think it would have a cover under the rear seat that you remove to get to the sender unit etc.

I pulled the seat out today and unplugged all the connectors and plugged them back in. Nothing.
Off to check the relay and fuses.

Thanks

So Kia Cars, SUV, Minivans, & Future Vehicles - Kia Motors America
sent me to

Lots of info BUT could not find what values I should get using a ohm meter for the flue gauge sensor.

From the picture I checked green to black then green to the other back.
Nothing even up to 20K ohms.
