Default Front End Noise. Normal?

I have only had this 03 Rio for a little over a week. It replace an 05 Lincoln Aviator, so I may just be used to a different type of vehicle quality. It has 50000 miles and runs okay. When I lift off of the gas I hear a noise upfront. Maybe its the transmission, because its on the Driver front where I hear the noise. It sounds like metal spinning in metal. Only notice it when I take my foot off of the accelarator.

Try pushing the front end up and down and see if it makes the sound but otherwise from what ur describing, it doesnt seem normal. Is the car standard ot auto?

never under estimate the power of my RIO:cool:

It is an 03 with automatic transmission. No sound when pushing down on front end. There is the driveshaft on the driver side and the transmission. I figure that its one of these. I can only hear it when I take my foot off of the accelerator, like when its coasting.

Is the sound constant when coasting or pulsing on and off? On a straight section of quiet road try switching off the ignition to accessory position and coast with engine off to see if you can better isolate the noise. [ be careful not to lock the steering]

TAKE YOUR TIME, THINK IT OUT, DO IT RIGHT, DO IT ONCE!! original quote by me as far as I know.

It still makes the noise when coasting. Am I to assume that its the left front bearing.

if it was bearing it would make noise while in turns. Sharp right turn would make the noise (if driver bearing) very loud, while left would make it almost quiet...
Does it apply to any speed? How about any loose parts or worn parts in suspension? How about transmission and engine mounts?

Please, please fill out your profile, it might be possible for us to help you more. What kind of noise does it make, saying my car makes a noise is like going to the Dr. and saying, I hurt. Metal on metal??? Grinding???? Squeaking????? Whinning????? Klunking????

Give us something to work with.

and that's it?
nothing about engine mounts? any possibility of contact some moving parts from engine and cars body? nothing about suspension condition?
how much play does the engine have?
