Default Rattling sound only when I make a right turn

Hey guys,

Hopefully you can help me with an issue that has arisen in my 2005 KIA Rio. A few weeks ago, I realized that my car was making a rattling sound when I turned sharply to the right. The sound seemed to come from the driver's side front wheel and sounded like tin cans rattling together. More recently, the sound happens even when I make less sharp right turns, but only when I turn right. Left turns do not cause the sound, nor does driving straight ahead or idling.

Does anyone know what may be causing this issue? Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

has your rio been in a state that uses salt on the roads? i've worked on rios that had the exhaust shield towards the rear of the car come loose from rust and rattle on the exhaust.

You probably have a cv joint on the drive shaft that needs replacing. Check the rubber boots for tears, any dirt that gets in will wreck the joint. To find problem turn on full steering lock and drive in circle if you turn right the knock will be left outer cv problem. If you turn left any knock will be the outer right cv joint if that is your problem. If so cv will need replacing. Hope this helps.

Default Similar rattling in 09 Sedona - please help

I am having the same type of sound coming from my Sedona. I hear it on the drivers side, not sure about passenger side though. I park in a parking garage and it seems to be turning in either direction. Also when I go in roundabouts. It's driving me nuts! My Kia dealer has adjusted and replaced backing plates. I can't seem to fina anything in any technical service bulletins.
