Default 2000 Kia Sportage Transmission Filter Change

I'm changing the automatic transmission filter on a 2000 Kia Sportage.
How much fluid does it take. The owners manual says 7.2 quarts and other sources say 2 1/2 to over 3 qts.
Which is correct?
Also I plan to use Dexron III.

They both are. 2-3 for filter change. 7 + for complete change including torque converter. If you are just changing the filter add 2 qts warm up engine run through forward & reverse an add as needed.
yes dexron 3
