Default 2002 Sportage Upper Ball Joint Bolts

Hi guys!

I recently acquired a Kia 2002 sportage 5spd manual 4cyl 4x4 and I love the little beast and have been fixing it up from the previous owner who let it slip into disrepair.

I need to find the upper ball joint bolts and have been told by my mechanic that they are specialized. I've tried to contact my nearest dealer 50miles away over the phone and they have no clue what I am talking about. The upper ball joint is held in place like a wishbone with the 2 bolts and my mechanic refuses to work on them without replacement bolts because he says there is a good chance of ruining them on removal. If someone has a source online where I can get these I would be grateful.

So far I have fixed rear brakes,( pads separated and were causing probs, rear drums, rear shocks) put on 4 new tires, purchased 2 new coils for the rear as one is broke and got a new brake line cable seeing as mine doesnt work/broke/snapped. They can be installed same time as the upper ball joint just waiting on those bolts/bushings.

And yeah just like everyone elses problems my 4x4's dont work either,I'm betting my solenoid is full as the front hubs were replaced by the previous owner. Be nice to find that and fix it to.

An off the wall question,I want to redo the radio system and i am having troubles getting the front speaker panels off the door and I dont want to bust them ( seeing as i have clumsy hands and a bit of a patience problem when things should come off easily, and a bad temper usually causes more damage ) any easy way to get them off?

Any tips for better fuel mileage? Cant believe this 4cyl is only getting 20-24mpg, 320 miles in a full tank. Spark plugs have been replaced, i was thinking maybe time for a new O2 sensor......any help would be appreciated.

I think here are the bolts you were looking for: GENUINE KIA SPORTAGE 97-01 UP ARM SPINDLES 7 PCS | eBay, but check with them before, because they say they are for 97-01 Sportage. Also order only one, because it is a set of seven bolts!

You have to remove the door panel. There are two screws you need to remove. One is in door pull handle. There is rubber plug you have to pull to access the screw, There is also one in the door latch release.

Next use a door panel tool around the edge of the door panel to pop the pins out of the door. Be careful as they like to break easily. They are just plastic. They can be replaced but a dealership is the only place I know of that you can get them and they run around $2.50 a piece.

You might also need to remove the rubber window seal on top of the door panel. I have to on my 2002 2 door.

well I am showing that the upper ball joint is part of the control arm. you have to replace the whole control arm. so i take it your looking for the control arm bolts. if that is the case I'm sure you can find bolts that will fit in the bushing just fine.
