Any leak will prevent the monitors from setting..

When was the last time you performed maintenance/tune up?

You will have to drive until you get a first code, then test/fix, all other monitors will not set ready until you perform this maintenance..

the ECM will not go to closed loop until it sees the coolant at >165* (190 is norm), confirm with IR temperature tester @ sensor and Thermostat.

thanks for the info, aquanaut20, i'll check it out, this has really been baffling me. at first the dtc codes were for an inactive o2 sensor, so i replaced it, and a poor performing mass air flow sensor, that had oil on it so i cleaned it. sinse then i have no more codes, but those monitors won't clear. thanks, and i'll repost after.

i checked what you suggested, aquanaut20, and found that the wire c211-1 from ecm is not telling my fuel relay to open which also powers the evap, coolant and several other sensors and the fuel pump. i cant seem to find what order of what sensors or tests the ecm needs to run before it will get to turn on this wire, but i suspect there is something. i went through everything on it at kiatechinfo.com, but it doesn't go into checking the ecm. any ideas on this, aquanat20 or anyone?

Default ECM monitors trouble

I have a 2001 Sportage that was running badly (just got the car), so I checked the DTCs and found a non-op O2 sensor and incomplete monitors for O2, evap, cat and poor performance code on the mass air sensor. I replaced the O2 sensor and cleaned the mass air sensor. The O2, Evap and cat monitors still won't complete. In checking, I found that the fuel pump solenoid wasn't coming on, checked it and the wiring and found that the #1 wire from the ECM was'nt triggering it to come on. I checked the crankshaft pos sensor, it's OK, I can't figure out whats causing this, it should trigger for 2 seconds after the key is turned on to get fuel to the engine so it can start but there is no acivity. Oh, also got a code when I started for no coolant temp from ECM to TCM, sensor and wire are OK. Anyone have any ideas? Please? By the way, how can I post a new question and start a new thread? All I can find is the reply area to ask a question or reply. Help!
