Angry 2001 Sportage "HOLD" light blinking...

Ok, we never use the hold button located on the automatic transmission gear shift... BUT it is now blinking and no matter what I tried it will not turn off or stop blinking.

Any ideas or has anyone dealt with this in the past??

Thanks,

Greg

Cool

Yes. The light blinks when theirs a problem with the transmission control solenoids. Your check engine light may also be on. You need to get the the codes read and go from there.
If you don't have a code reader many auto parts do it for free.
Post your code number, their are many here to help you.

Good Luck

I will post the codes shortly. I do have a code reader, but never thought that there would be a connection with the hold light blinking. One thing that I do not like about Kia Engineering - you can get a check engine light and check the codes and the codes are sometime masked by the ACTUAL problem... but I will check and report back.

Thanks for your time Chief.

I'm not trying to threadjack by any means, but I seem to be having the exact same problem as you are with the "HOLD" light blinking. I did have the codes read and they are as follows: P0300, P1115, and P1624. I understand that the first code is a random multiple cyl. misfire. I just performed a tune-up about a month ago, changed the plugs and coil packs and I'm still getting this code. The other 2, I'm not quite sure. Any help would be appreciated.

P0300 code random misfire, could caused by many things. You covered some of them. Have you change the fuel filter. Have you checked real good for vacuum leaks including intake manifold.
P1115 code, water (coolant) temp malfunction (not the gauge sender) wiring or sender. Clean wire connections and look for damage or broken wires.
P1624 code, undetermined, TCM tells the ECM to turn on the mil (blinking light).
