Default AC coolant recharge

Hi All

Anybody know where the AC coolant recharge valve is located on a 2002 kia sportage? I was checking at kiatechinfo and coulnd't find it.

Also I was thinking I'd recharge it myself. Has anyone tried the following product?

EDIT: Does the Kia come stock with r12 or 134a refirgerant? (Makes a difference when recharging according to redtek)

RED TEK A/C Refrigerant Recharge Kit

RED TEK A/C Refrigerant Recharge Kit | Canadian Tire

THANKS!

Default AC coolant recharge

Most newer vehicles take the 134 type. There should be a tag of some kind under the hood that tells you.

My '96 Sportage took R134a. I think all vehicles after a certain year (95?) have to use that one.

T he valve to recharge to a/c is right behind the passenger side headlight. There are 2 service valves there one has an L marked on the cap which is the one you want to charge the system through the other has an H marked on it stay away from that one it could overpressurize the can. The charging hose in the recharge kit will only connect to the L valve anyways though. And yes it is 134.

refill freon R134 under the hood, with L cap, NOT the H.
