00' sportage is stalling when it is put in reverse, and hesitates and stalls when going from dead stop, fine once at rpm. Check engine light is on constantly now (going to go and have the ecm codes checked on thur.). Any comments on where to start? Just had a 60k tune up less than 6 mo. ago at KIA dealership. Car has over 100k but until now has not had any major problems, lol, except for the 2k spent on all the parts that needed changed during 60k. Looking for any advice where to start.

Codes would be the first place to start, otherwise it's just a guess.

You spent $2000 on parts at 60000 miles??? And you've put 40000 miles on it in 6 months? It may just need a rest!

lol, no, it had over 100k when I bought it 6 mo. ago. It is my son's car and the owner couldn't provide any paperwork for it ever having anything done to it and it had a major oil leak, so I took it in and had all the work done that should have been done all at once. Figure it was better than one problem at a time, labor sucks, that is why I am trying to learn to do a lot of this stuff myself. My son is supposed to take it in today to get the ECM read and see what it is saying.

ok, so code points to MAF, before I jump in and purchase this thing is there anything else that I should be checking? Basically using a lot of gas and stalling, anyone else face this problem? Sorry the code was P0103. Been trying to read up on this, do I need to replace the MAF? I am not a mech. so I am still learning as I go.
