Welcome to the forum.

The EGR valve directs exhaust gas into the inlet manifold under certain engine operating conditions, but if it does not shut off well it causes performamce issues.

Check the web site in my sig and you find a lot more info in the "Shop" section.

Not sure if it has anything to do with my issue, but if I come to a slow gentle stop, I idle around 1,300 rpm. If I stop hard (pitching the nose down) The idle returns to normal.
Any posibilities of being associated with the egr stuff?

Often the exhaust gas directed into the inlet manifold by the EGR valve contaminates the ISC valve and it gets sticky resulting in erratic idle speed - best to take it off and clean it with carb cleaner.

the ports to the egr and/or the egr may need to be cleaned. a dirty egr valve can cause it not to close all the way. try to clean it and if it still doesn't fix it, it may need to be replaced.

Welcome to the forum.

It would be impossible to make an informed guess with the little information you provide on your problem.

It could be the same problem, or a multitude of other possibilities such as vacuum leak, choked fuel filter, bad spark plugs, ............
