Hello all. My girlfriends driver window fell one day while parked. It is an 01 Sportage with 4 wheel drive. It has power windows. She had an uncle of hers find some way to get it up, but it still has a 1 inch gap in it. Not sure what he did. Any ideas on what caused it to just fall? I'm not sure if the switch was pressed or not. From what I gathered it was parked and she came out and it was down into the door. Thanks for suggestions.
this just happened to my wife's sporty... I pulled out the wench because the wire busted and it got all tangled up. I'm going to go junking tomorrow and see what I can find. if that doesn't work, I'll try to fix it. If THAT doesn't work, i'll go to the dealer.
junk yard=no kias...There's one on ebay for like 130 that I'm looking into. I can't find the time to pull the assembly out because my wife and I work different shifts so the car's never here when i am, so I'm just going to throw the one on ebay into it real quick-like and then maybe try to fix up the old one for shits and giggles
Similar circumstance...about 2 years ago, my window would go most of the way down, but pressing the button to raise it only resulted in the motor running, but no movement on the window. I was told it was "probably" the regulator, but never got around to getting it replaced. I'd lower it when I needed to, and raise it by placing a hand on each side of the glass and pushing up.
However, last week, the glass went down all the way, disappearing in the door. My son-in-law tried to raise it by *gently* pulling up on it with pliers (which he told me he had done before), but it shattered. I got the glass replaced for $60.00, but still haven't replaced the regulator. And, the repairman did something with the mechanism so that the window won't even go down no, but you hear the motor running when you press the button.
Anyone got any directions on how to replace the regulator?

Yeah, the closest dealer is in redding California and they told my wife a number that's way too outrageous. My buddy works at corning ford where they kia dealer used to be and he told me it would cost like 80 bucks maybe. Of course, different dealer now so yeah...
edit: yeah, so my wife went to ask them about a price. I thought it was funny that when she told them she could get one off ebay for half the price the guy was just like "well, you wouldn't be getting a kia oem quality part if you did that". Maybe if it wasn't from an oem kia/haundai(sp?) power seller. lol
