Default driveshaft u-joints

I have a 2001 Kia Sportage and getting prepared to replace my driveshaft as well due to the center bearing going bad. As for just buying the u-joints, has anyone said if the driveshaft(s) on the Sportage 2wd have non-replaceable joints or not? I had a 91 Mazda B2200 pickup and had to change the complete driveshaft because the joint was not replaceable. I was told that the center joint was pressed and locked in and could not be replaced. They were right. Just wondering if anyone knows if the Sportage is the same way? The only place I have found a driveshaf is through Kiaparts.com for around $400.00.

I don't think separate U-joints would be available if they weren't.

Default driveshaft u-joints

The u-joints were available for the Mazda as well but I was still not able to change the joints myself. I realized that AFTER I had purchased the u-joints. I was hoping to swap out the joints in a couple hours and ended up having to order a driveshaft. I was not even able to get a machine shop to swap the bearings for me because of the way the joint was locked into place. I was able to get one of the driveshafts off but the joint was locked into the other shaft. I was hoping to be able to just swap the joints on my Kia but if it's anything like my Mazda was, the complete driveshaft has to be purchased.

Hello Everyone!!!! Great News!!!! Today Finally!!! I replaced my Driveshaft... I was fortunate enough to have found a brand new original one on ebay for a steal!!! Today my buddy and I replaced it and it took about an hour and half or so.... After we took out the old one that is when I noticed that center bearing shot to hell... the new one had no play in it while the old one was moving in all sorts of directions.... as for the U-joints they are replaceable; however, from looking at my old one, they do not have standard clips holding them in place from the outer side of the cap.(what we are used to seeing).. They are located on the inner part of the U-Joint, if that makes sense.. Once you get the C clips off (a screw driver and a pick) they caps would need to be lifted out of place... The only reason why I know this is because I just went out to my old one and removed one side to see.... Hope it works out for you... I must say though, once that new bearing is in place it feels like a new car again... AH!! the little things in life.... Thanks for all your help people. It is greatly appreciated... Next is my timing belt!!! WOOO HOOO!!!!
