Unhappy 99 Sportage has no power when first started

This just happened after 3 days of rain from hurrican FAY. The car stars fine, but has no power and will not move for 3 or four minutes. I sit there and let it idle and gradually coax the idle up to around 2,000 and then keep it there for a minute or so and try to drive off. If I still have no power I repeat. Usually on the second or third try it spins the tires and away we go [I am on grass, don't think it would spin on concrete. LOL]

Once we get moving I can drive it fine. If we go to a store or something and shut it off then it starts when I get back in it.

At first I thought maybe the coil packs and/or wires were affected by the high humidity, but I noticed that sometimes it is idling at over 2,000 RPM so I wonder if the IAC might be the culprit. I think I read that it can be cleaned. I am going to replace the air filter and clean the MAF probably tomorrow and I wonder if someone can tell me how to clean the IAC

I checked the price of the IAC at Advance Auto parts and it was $125.00 so I hope I can clean it and not have to replace it.

I have cleaned them before just using carb cleaner to wash it out good. Let it dry before reinstalling.

Thanks Mike. I bought a can of CRC MAF cleaner to clean the MAF so I guess I will use that.
