Cool Loss of power

I have noticed over the last few weeks that when the outside temperature goes up especially 90's to 100's, the power in my little Sportage goes down.
When i hit a slight incline i can floor the pedal and there is notihng there.
Yet in mornings when it is cooler, everything seems to be ok.

Any ideas?

Just guessing here, but maybe it's a degraded O2 sensor causing an overly rich mixture which does not effect it when its cold.
The O2 sensor is not used for the first few minutes while the sensor heats up, and it maybe that during this time it runs OK but not when it's warmed up.

It could also be a vacuum leak.

Default sorry

Sorry for not replying sooner.
I think the O2 sensor might be the way to go . Last year the check engine light came on and it was an O2 error but after a short while it went off on its own so i never gave it a second thought. It has not come back on but from what i have read on here and other forums it is most likely to be the upstream sensor because these ( nice little cars have two)
Which is the upstream sensor? and have you seen the price of these things, nearly fell off my chair when i found out.

Try Rock Auto. They have O2 Sensors listed at $52- $120.

I just went through this and in my case, it was the downstream sensor.
