Default strut mount issues

I have a 99 sportage and had new struts put on but they didn't tighten the strut mount nut on driver side. I tried to tighten it but the rod spins also. they must have lost the original nut cause they used one of those nuts with the nylon threads. so I went and bought new strut mounts but I cant seem to get old ones off any ideas? the rattling sound and squeaking sounds are driving me crazy. would have taken it back to shop but work was done in Chicago and honestly I don't want them dumb a$$es touching this thing anymore.

Can you get a set of Vice Grips on that rod to keep it from turning while you tighten the nylock nut?

I tried to put the vice grip on the very top of the rod but nothing the rod started to get pretty messed up. I was thinking of heating the nut to try and melt the nylon but I dont want that rod getting hot cause it might make the gasses expand and blow out seals. hhmmmm maybe I'll try cutting the nut??

Shouldn't be that hard to get off. I suspect that they used an SAE instead of metric nut, or maybe just the wrong sized nut. I think I would take it back to them and demand that they fix it right.

they are over 100 miles away. my girl had work done by a shop that her dad knows the guys. but get this they are saying no no everything was done correct. IDK I'm thinking of going over there and just beating the hell out the guy that did work. under all the lies he knows what he did wrong. I did $1000 worth of work on the suspension and took it to midas and they said everything that was done was done incorrectly and would have to be re-done and they want $1500. I told them to f*ck off also I cant see paying $60 for strut mounts that only cost $10 each or $500 for an idler arm that cost only $200. so I guess I'm doing this on my own that way I know it will be done correctly.

I am in FL now, but was born in IL, so not too far from you. What say I come up there and help you beat the crap out of those guys and then you follow me back to FL and we'll do the same to the fine folks at Sunny Kia in Gainsville.

If you can get a sworn statement from the Midas folks saying that it was done wrong, you might be able to take the dealership to small claims court and sue thier butts off.

Man I hate it when someone tries to screw me over.
