Hello; I'm not new to the forums, I had to change my registration because I forgot my password and have since changed my E-mail address so anyway. I have a 2000 Sportage EX and I have a misfire when I pull away from a stoplight or after backing up. Its when the RPM's drop below 1000. If I keep my foot on the gas and keep the RPM's up, it runs fine.
Here's the list of things I've replaced;
1) both coils, coil harness, plugs & plug wires (gaped at 30, then 40 no change)
2) battery
3) alternator
4) fuel pump, filter, pressure regulator
5) radiator, all hoses & heater core (unrelated but worth mentioning)
6) replaced belt driven fan with electric
7) Head resurfaced, valve job, head gasket
8) timing belt and water pump
9) added a rear swaybar and KYB shocks & struts (also unrelated, but fun)
I keep getting the famous MIL's;
P0300
P0302
P0304
They will go away for awhile then come back on. This thing is killing me, I hate spending more money on this car. Does anyone have any ideas?
Any ideas would be greatly appretiated. Thanks again. KZ
10) changed (before and after cat) O2 sensors (sorry forgot to list before) Just give me a short block and I've got a new motor. Where is the IAV? I'ts odd because it's only when you dip below 1000 RPM. If I sit at a light and drive two footed and keep the RPM's up while its in gear, It pulls away strong.
The Idle Air Control valve would cause idle speed problems, but not misfire.
For the misfire I'd look at the coils, coil wires and spark plugs.
Have you check the 'DTC' section on the KiaTech web site - they suggest things like vacuum leak and possibly bad PCV tec. some of which I would not have considered would cause misfire.

Make sure your gas cap is on tight and it has a good seal. I know that sounds stupid but trust me, it's a big deal on the Sporty. Search the forum for "Gas Cap".

Worth checking, but I haven't heard of that causing a misfire.

Do a Fuel Injector clean first and see if the codes come back. If they do then start looking at the crankshaft sensor
