Default 2001 Body parts

Hello Everyone,

I was wondering if anyone knows IF a front passenger door from an 2000 Sportage would fit on a 2001 Sportage? Also does anyone have or know where I can find a reasonably priced front passenger door fo my 2001 KIA Sportage?

Thanks

ET

I'd be willing to bet it would. The Sporty didn't change much between '96 and '02. As for parts, try Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market .

Thanks for the info. I was wondering if anyone knew for sure, though, becuase when I do a parts search it seperates the years 2001-2002 from the rest. I don't know if its because of the EX and LX packages, which I don't think were available in previous years.......

If car-part keeps those years seperate, I'd say you're out of luck. One thing you could do is see if any local dealerships are selling a 2000 or older Sporty and do a visual comparison between its passenger door and yours.

Hi,
I might be able to help you out here. The 2000 and 2001 doors are the same.Depending on your trim level, you may have to swap over the cladding in the door bottom(which is just installed with 3M tape),but other than that, you're golden! I'm a licenced collision tech, and have had quite a few Sportages in my garage over the years.Consider yourself lucky that you actually found a clean used door,as they are pretty tough to find. This is actually my first post on this forum,so I'm pretty happy I was able to offer some advice in an area that I'm familiar with.

Hi again,
I found a 2002 with a rod knock. I am going to use the door from it, its the same color. I was wondeing how to remove the interior trim. The 02 is stone beige cloth and mine is pewter grey leather. Also any advice on the rod knock. Is it worth trying to fix?

Thanks

Another good parts resource is RockAuto.com. I've bought quite a few prts from them with no complaints.

Hey there,

I got the door from the 02 installed on the 01. It looks great, but it doesn't seal at the top the way the old door did. When I installed it I couldn't get it to close properly. I took it to a local body shop who used a tool to line up the latch on the pillar to the latch on the door. However now the door 'sticks' a little and you have to pull up slightly from the outside to open it. Also the door doesnt' seem 'flush' at the top near the roof and 'leaks' air while driving at highway speeds........

Any suggestions to fix these issues?

Thanks for in advance for any advice.....

Cheers

Eddie

Actually, I'd check the hinge bolts first, then the hinge pins. My money is on the pins as the bushings tend to wear out. As for the top of the door, if it still doesn't fit properly, some mild tweaking sounds in order. Roll the window down so you don't break it and place your knee against the bottom of the window opening. Grab the two top corners of the window frame and with firm, steady pressure pull downward in the direction the door needs to be tweaked. Check fit and repeat until things line up as they should. As for the gap in the weather strip, some new weather strip or some w/s putty under the low spots will cure leaks.
