Default Timing belt by myself?

Okay it looks like I'm gonna have to replace the timing belt by myself...

I have seen the instructions at kiatechinfo and it doesn't look too tough, although this would probably be one of the biggest car repair jobs I've done...

Can anyone give me any tips on where to watch out for screw ups and problems I might experience. Are there any steps of the kiatechinfo directions that are not required?

Also I do not have a torque wrench. Do I really need on for this job and if so what is the best type/size etc to purchase?

THANKS!

I don't use one for the TB job, but it would be best for the inexperienced to get one.

For a DIY first time on the timing belt, give yourself a full day to do it, and don't make any firm plans for the following day in case you need a bit more time.

If you have an assistant, like I did, and they install the "timing belt guide plate" on the crank pulley, like mine did, make sure they don't put it on backwards, like he did-- it will shred your belt as soon as you turn it over the first time. Then you're back at square one.

first time I ever worked on a Kia took me about 3-4 hours. some of the bolts were badly rusted. But not too bad of a job $30 for the belt and a few hours of my time compared to 4450 from the dealer.
