Default 2002 Sportage Blower motor

Blower motor only comes on when switch is in "1" position. All other switch positions (2,3,4) do not work. AC still works but again only in the "1" position. I took the control panel out, removed the switch, disassembled, and cleaned. I also replaced the blower motor resistor and still no luck. There are several relays mounted on the blower motor which are unmounted when removing blower motor. Could any one of these be causing my issue or does anyone else have idea?

Thanks in advance for your help.

You can try this website for more info, just register (it's free), then choose ETM on the left side of the screen and put your info in at the top and click GO:

Kia Global Information System (KGIS)

NOTE: I have an 02 Conv and have found that sometimes the electrical diags are not present, so I just choose 2001 for the year and the info is usually there... that's how I found what I attached here.

From the looks of that diagram, I would think that the resistor is probably OK, since it works in the #1 position which means that the circuit is being completed through all three resistances shown. My guess would be that the problem is more likely the switch itself, or possibly the wiring between the switch and the resistor... but I'd bet on the switch being bad, since it is a "moving part" and they are always more suspicious (in my mind) than non-moving parts like wires... especially in this case when three wires would have to fail at once vs just one switch.

If possible, try just running a grounded wire to the each of the three positions (in turn) that are not working -- if each one works when touched with the grounded wire, then the switch is likely bad.

I notice in the shop manuals at KGIS there is a trouble shooting diagnosis table for the blower motor for the 2001, but not in the 2002 (at least it didn't come up for me, I could be wrong, having difficulties with the site).

If you can't figure it out take a look at the trouble shooting table, it may help you figure out what to test first.
