Default 02 Sportage Stalling

Well, my truck is at the dealer and they claim they can not find anything wrong. About 1 month ago I was driving the truck and I noticed the motor cut out for just a brief second. Then when started it would die. This happened twice. While driving out of the blue it would stall. Wait a minute and then it would start and run fine. Overall, the truck has stalled 4 times while driving in the last month, seemed to miss while driving twice, and die while idleing in the driveway.

Also, the smell of gas is noticeable in the truck on real cold days. Do not smell the gas in corralation with the stalling. Any help would be great.

Sounds likely to be the filter. I've had the filter clog on a whole variety of vehicles. They always had the same symptoms you describe.

Check the Main and Fuel pump relays under the hood too (if yours has them). Mine began acting that way and it was the main relay.

Hey, thanks for the advice, but I don't know where they are at. What am I looking for when I check them?

On my 99 Sportage, they are just in front of the battery under a black cover. Both relays are identical in mine. Best thing may be to just buy a spare from a Kia dealer. When you get it switch the new one with the one marked MAIN. That's what I had to do with mine. Haven't had any more problems.
