Default Timing The Timing Belt

I want to ensure that the timing belt is installed correctly. I pulled the cover back and can tell that both of the cam marks will point straight up at the arrows in the sheet metal. Hhowever, if I turn the cams to get the crank pulley mark to point to the "T" on the timing indicator strip, the cam marks are one thooth short of being straight up. Am I using the correct mark (T) for aligning the crank ?

I've always said if you can find http://www.kia-forums.com/do-yoursel...e-manuals.html and use a service manual you can do almost anything.

I did find the manual and see that I need to look under the lower cover to see if the belt is aligned correctly. Bummer, didn't want to tear it down just to look in there.

Since the crank pulley is connected to the belt pulley, one would think that the timing marks on the pulley would point to some timing mark when the belt marks are aligned making it a lot easier to see.
