Default Bucking, missing, shutdown

I posted about a week ago concerning vacuum/emission hose routings on a 1995 Sportage, 2.0, SOHC. That problem has been resolved. I now have another problem. While driving, the vehicle starts to buck, almost as if turning the key on and off very rapidly. Speed or rpm doesn't seem to make a difference. Engine temperature or outside air temperature does not seem to make a difference. The "check engine" light will flicker when the vehicle acts up. Seems to me like an ignition (electrical ?) problem. I did replace the TPS, which was faulty (spring broken internally). No change in the problem. This engine has a coil pack/module mounted on a bracket on the driver side front of the cylinder head. It has one electrical connector, and places for the four plug wires. The wiring harness looks to be OK. Does the coil pack/module sound like a possible source of the problem? Also, where is the main computer located on this vehicle. Possible loose/corroded connections there? The ground strap from the firewall to the intake plenum is clean and secure, as is the ground from the battery to the block. There are also 3-4 smaller ground wires connected to the intake plenum, and they are clean and secure. Any other known grounds to check? Any one else had this problem, or similar. Suggestions? Thanks, David

I'm not familiar with the 95 model, but if you have a main relay and a fuel pump relay in the fuse box under the hood, change both relays. This sounds like how mine started behaving, and I spent about two weeks chasing things before I found that the main relay would only work part of the time.

Mike70.... Thanks. I previously have worked on a 1999 Sportage with a no start problem, and found it to not have fuel to the injectors. It was a relay problem on that vehicle. Did change the fuel filter today, and it still had the original filter on it. I could blow through it though, with no restrictions. Hadn't thought of it on the 1995. I'll check it out tomorrow.. Thanks again. David
