Default '99 Sportage Start problem

Hi

I hope someone can help me with a problem with my 99 Sportage.

Last year, I had my mechanic replace the alternator and change out the positive battery cable connector, and it has been running fine until last Friday evening.

I came out of work, and my car would not start. The lights/wipers/radio/blowers were all working but when I tried to start up I heard a clicking noise. A jump start from another car got the engine running, and I got home.

When I parked, I cut the engine off, and tried to re-start, but all I got was the clicking noise again. I tried to use my portable jump starter, but there wasn't enough power. After removing the battery and putting it on charge for 2 hours, it was enough to get the car started. I ventured out again this morning, and was out for about 30 minutes. When I got back, I cut the vehicle off, but it would not start up.

I have cleaned the battery posts and both contact cables. Before I run it back to the mechanic, does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks in adnvance
Neil

BTW The battery is a DieHard Gold and it was installed in 2005.

I'd start off by getting the batt and alt tested, most major parts stores will do this, however you have to remove them first!

Sounds like either the batt won't hold a charge large enough to start the car or the alt is not charging properly!
