Did you make sure the thermostat went in the right direction?
I had a similar problem with my van, first winter I owned it I couldn't get any heat. I bought a new thermostat, when I replaced it I simply pulled the old one out and put the new one in the same way. Turns out it was in backwards, the coolant builds up pressure and blows the thermostat wide open. It sticks there and I couldn't get any heat.
I was lucky that’s all that happened, I'm sure it could have caused engine damage.

Or the heater core could be plugged or a hose pinched off. What does the temp gauge show?
