Dont even bother with them, they're a waste of money and they can damage your engine in the long term.
They consist of a resistor (which you can buy for about 10p in any electrical shop) which goes on the air flow meter circuit. It fools the engine into thinking the air is colder than it is, so more fuel is injected to compensate. As a result, the throttle response feels sharper, but there's not much actual power gain. It's the same as running an older car with the choke permanently on. The car will be running very rich, which will basically screw it up.
Unfortunately, when it comes to getting more power, there are no cheap easy methods.
Hope this helps!
