Default 2001 Sportage Heater Actuator?

My wife has a 2001 sportage (I have the 04 optima), both cars have run great, until recently. The 2001 sportage has no heat blowing into the car. There is cold air blowing into the vehicle. ALL 3 dials on the tempature control seem to be working. The vent / floor / window selector works for sure, and the fan switch works for sure, the (mix) other switch I think works, I am getting a reading off of the multimeter when I switch from hot to cold and vice versa. Opening up the glove box and removing it, there is an actuator on the air box that opens and closes a valve (assuming), this does not move, when moved manually, the heat comes into the vehicle. This is a heater actuator I think, but the dealership does not know which one. Any ideas on part numbers or what to tell them, on my second special order to get the right part.

Smile Fixed. yah!!!!

Ok, here goes, on the 2001 Sportage, remove the glove box pushing in on the sides and releasing the rubber stops, remove the 3 screws from the back of the box on the metal strip, lift off hangers, remove panel with 1 screw on bottom 4 on top, and one on right side by door (use a stubby for this one). Upper left corner of glove box hole you will see actuator on heater air box. Actuator is approximately 2.5 by 3.5 inches with a white actuator arm bottom right and a grey plug in upper left. This takes two or three days to get in at local dealer and about $130. It took about 15 minutes to replace total, but it was worth it, heat works great. Part number for this one is 0 K070 61 A36 and is called the actuator assy - mix . Works great lots of heat.

oh, and if you are a big guy like myself (or maybe not) remove the center pop out on the climate control area and you can reach the lower left screw alot easier with a really long screwdriver. or you have to do the blind stubby with two hands ..... good luck.

It looks like we have a similar issue, but mine turnout to be a disaster. Here is the story:

I was having a problem with the heater. It wasn’t producing enough heat to keep me warm. I brought the car to the Bloomington Metro Auto shop, MN to fix the issue on December 27th 2007. I was recommended to do a full service check and told that my heater is doing just fine and everything is working as normal. I paid $305.98 for the service but I realized the heating issue had continued.

I drove the car for a week before I took it back to the shop. They said we weren’t able to diagnose it at the first diagnostic and performed a second diagnostic. They advised me to replace the Motor blower, Resistor, Fusible link, Belt_V , Belt-V Ribbed, V-Belt All were replaced and paid $683.14 (February 21st, 2008).

Just after 8 days of the service (February 29th, 2008) , the car completely broke down in the middle of a highway which endangered my life and my 16 month daughter who was riding with me at the time. I took it back to the shop and I was told this is not anything has to do with the service was performed by Bloomington Metro. I was advised to have the engine replaced. Another new engineI informed the shop that I have an extended warranty to cover. The shop contacted the warranty company (Advantage) and the warranty company performed an inspection on the car. They concluded that the crankshaft bolt was too tight and as the result the engine failed and belt came off. While it is a puzzle to me why the crankshaft bolt turnout to be too tight, but not sure who touched crankshaft bolt? How come the crank shaft becomes too tight? The only time my car was at any maintenance shop, Dec 2008 and February of 2008 and before that it was last year at end of 2006. I would have to think somebody needs to take responsibility.

Please advise
