Terrible gas mileage?!?!?!

Does anyone else have terrible gas mileage on their 97 kia sportage, or similar?
Or is there another issue it could be?

I had crappy milage, 350km per tank! Changed the engine fan, it was kinda siezed casuing extra drag on the engine, and am now getting over 500km to a tank!

I get about 400 miles to the tank. Thats going on the highway and not doing alot of stopping. Other then that I can drive from my work at Wallops Island to school Charlottesville with three quarters to half a tank if there is no serious traffice mileage = 265 miles

Good to know! But 400miles!?!?!??! Amazing,, even with frequent highway travel I only get about 260,, and in regular traffic,,, I get about 200 miles to the tank.
Any ideas how to improve this?

My mother had some kinda of fuel system flush/cleaning done to her car. She said that it did wonders swith her gas mileage. She drives a Grand Jeep Cherokee. Hers was about $160, thats parts and labor

I was getting almost 350miles per gallon, then had 4 wd replaced to warn manuals, and now lucky to get 300. Had it looked at, no idea. But i do alot of city driving, so that does potray issues also.

Recent trip to Minesota got me approx 370 to 400 miles per tank at about 65 to 70 MPH.
In the city it's another matter entirely, about 270 miles and it's time to fill up again, which works out to about 20 MPG....so so for such a small truck!
