Angry 2001 sportage has me stumped.

Hey all, I'm new here. My sister has a 2001 sportage. It idles fine. When you push on the gas it falls on it's face. The RPMs rev but it won't gain speed, it has no power. It used to gradually gain speed or you could stop and sit for a few minutes and it would run a little bit. Now it will just idle. It is reading P0302(cylinder 2 misfire), P0300(random/multiple cylinder misfire), and P0304(cylinder 4 misfire). We have changed the fuel pump, fuel filter, plugs, plug wires, coil packs, and the timing belt looks new. We pulled the plugs and only one was firing and #4 was oil soaked on the firing side. This thing is starting to drive me crazy. Does anyone know what could be the issue? Thanks in advance for any advice.

Cat Converter could be blocked. Unbolt your exhaust and try it again. Keep in mind it will be loud. If it revs up like normal replace the Cat.

The valve/cam cover gasket tends to leak, soaking the coil packs and plugs in oil, grounding them out rendering them all but usless. clean up the plugs and packs, seal the valve cover and try again.

Valve Cover Gasket all the way. Been in that same boat, and finally after 2.5 hours of doing it myself and changing it, works like a dream. You have oil running into the spark plugs, so your engine is working 10x harder for horsepower.

Advice if doing it yourself, take a digital picture of the engine, before you take off the 20 like things you have to do to get to the Valve Cover Gasket.

Good Luck
