'98 Sportage Head Bolt Torque specs.
Good evening,
Working ona 98 Sportage and I'm wondering if anyone happens to know the torque specs for the headbolts. This fiasco started as a simple spark plug change but when the socket and plug from #4 came up oil covered, It moved to a valve cover gasket change. From there it's progressed to head gaskets since a bit of water was present in the oil under the valve cover. It's not present on the dipstick though.
Unless there's another path for water to end up under the valve covers, going to keep going with the head gasket. There was only one small spot where the oil had leaked to the outside of the cover so unlikely that water entered there and is only showing up on the other side of the engine.
So far from what work I have done on this one engine, it's turned me even farther off from Kia's than I was previously. As someone pointed out the fuel filter in a previous post, it's a bear to get to. Even more of one when you have hand larger than most peoples.
For the fuel filter, removing that vacuum canister and bracket seems to be the easiest way ti reach the front connector while reaching through the mud flaps behind the tire is easiest for the rear connector.
Enough rambling. This whole event has me mildly frustrated. Any replies/advice/direction/answers are greatly appreciated.
