Question 14inches Rims & Tire on Sportage '01

Hi

I'd just like to know if anyone ever tried to put 14inches rim & tires on a sportage 2001 model that usually have 15inches tire. I am curious to know if it would fit and also it would impact the "drivability" & stability of the vehicule.

I understand that the speedometer & milage of the vehicule wouldn't be accurate anymore but those are things that I can live with.

Thanks

-Nicolas

Rim size has nothing to do with the accuracy of the spedo as long as the overall diameter of the tyre on the rim is the same as stock! There are alot of rims that would fit the Sporty's bolt pattern, but make sure the size of the centre hole will fit the hubs! Also watch out for the offset and back spacing!

Wh would you want to go to a smaller rim? If you are looking for a set of 15 inch rims that will fit the sporty there is a person on another fourm that has a set and dosn't know how to get rid of them!

Just go with like a 205/65R/15 tire.
It gives you a lower ride and excellent handling. And they look nice.

"lower" a sporty? Thats strange almost everyone else wants to lift them!

BTW larger, wider tires will also gives you a better feel, and a way softer ride than stock!

Sorry to ask, but what is the offset and the back spacing of a rim? English ain't my native language and this might be a little technical.

A friend gave me a brand new set of tires, good brand but 14inches and it would be much cheaper for me to buy rims than other tires. Yup, once in a while, money is an issue.

Here is a good article that should help! Google Image Result for http://www.vintagewheelsus.com/images/frontwheelside1.jpg

It all may be a dead loss, as you may run into clearance issues with the front brake calipers!!!
