Unhappy Code P1614 with odd electrical problems. Any suggestions???

Car started experiencing intermittent electrical problems with front wiper, power windows and A/C Blower about six months ago. Finally all these systems completely died at the same time. Replaced battery cables due to corrosion and poor design hoping that would help but it didn't.

Finally got around to checking the CEL that's been on for a while and the code was P1614. When driving to have the code checked, engine would off and on race (RPM jump) and dash lights would dim. Also, seatbelt light indicator and brake light indicator won't go off.

Any suggestions? Could all these problems be related to the ECM? Would you say it's probably bad or is there a short somewhere? Can a Kia dealership diagnose these codes correctly without starting out by replacing the ECM just to determine it's the wiring or a connector?

Thanks,
Sharon

You have a bad ground somewhere in the on the car. There are a few major ground connections. Look on the drivers side kick panel. Remove it and you will fins a ground post there. look on the passenger side kick panel and you should also find a ground post there. Remove wires clean up the area and reinstall wires. Usually this is where the problem comes from for the info you supplied.

Ok...the Code P1614 problem fixed. No more engine light and car running smooth. However, still having problem with no wipers, power windows or A/C Blower. Tested and currently have no power to the fuse box for those systems. Any suggestions as to what to try next?

Trace the inside fuse holder to the outside fuse box under the hood. There are fuses there also.

all fuses - inside and out are good. we even replaced the fuses in the drivers side kick panel for the affected systems, still no joy. the lights in the window and blower switches light up, indicating power at least gets to there. though if you take a multi meter (with the ign. switch in the "on" position) and test at the fuse block it shows no power. if you take the pwr window fuse out and test it there are 0 volts, unless you ground it to another functioning system (interior lamp for instance) ground then it show 12 volts. according to GDS all 3 of these systems: heater blower, windshield wiper and power windows share ground G200. this is the ground behind the fuse block. we've removed the ground and sanded and replaced the ground there, the one on the passenger side (G201) and the one under the back seat, still no joy. is it possible, since these all connect to the same ground at some point, that a short blew all 3 of these swtches out (the cigar lighter is on that ground but it still works)? is there a way to test that ground (G200)?

I'm completely bumfuzzled...
