Default Performance Chip???

Hi, I want to get more power for climbing out of my automatic Sporty. Do the so called "Performance chips" that they sell on ebay (that is only a resister to bypass the oxygen sensor) work?, will it damage anything? or am I better off the way it is now? Thanks for any Info. on this.

No heard any 'good' things about chips for the Sporty! However if you want some more HP and some low end tourqe, loose the stock machanical fan and replace it with an electric, and ditch the stock air box and filter, and replace it with a high flow K&N cone filter right at the MAF!

I don’t like the idea of these resistors. They can cause various problems such as a malfunction indicator light to come on.

What it will basically do is cause your engine to run a little fat. That will result in what's perceived as a performance boost, however, your engine will not like running this rich.

And, this resistor should only function until your ecu goes into a closed loop state; AKA warms up, at which point it will be ignored.

If you wanna use your car as a guinea pig, you can take a good look at whatever E-bay picture they have and go to your local R. Shack and buy the same resistor. They are designated by the various colored bands on them, so if you find one that's like the picture, you'll find what you need.

The seller may go ahead and tell you what type it is. It'll cost about $.02 to buy at a store.

About fitting the cone filter ... all I need to do is remove all the trunking and fit a K&N cone?

Sounds too simple?
