Default 2wd Sportage Lift...?

Hi,

Name's Jon. I just recently purchased a 2000 Kia Sportage 2wd. Fun car but I am getting bored with the ride height. My wife told me that she wouldn't mind me doing a little work on it so I am using that as the go ahead to try and build a lift for the truck.

Last night I swapped th rear coils for some stock Jeep TJ coils I had laying around in the garage. I gained about 3" of lift in the rear and the ride quality was actually improved. I am not sure whether to credit that to the decreased weight in the rear due to the rake of the vehicle or the new springs, but I'll take it.

I amgoing to be building some spacers for the front end so I can lift it the same amount. I want to maintain the stock flex and feel of the front end.

I will be posting pics very soon.

Thanks,

Jon

TJ springs will give you 3 to 4" of lift, Ford aerostars spring will give you 5 to 6" there is nothing out there that will lift the front except for spacers, there are 2" and 2 1/2" spacers already out there! The front can only be lifted 4" without having to drop an A arm, a 2" lift on the front is considered baest as it keeps the front axle'sa t the same angles (only opposite) but since youres is only a 2wd yo don't need to worry about that!

Why lift a 2wd?

To be honest...I just like the look a little better. The reason I bought the Sportage was because I needed an economical vehicle to replace my Yota. 37's and no doors make for horrible conditions in Arizona's 110+ summers. My wife wanted something that would be able to transport kids and dogs...Yota went away and Kia came home.

But...she said that she thought it was too small, so I get to play a little on a new vehicle.

I am looking in to building a spacer kit for the front. Worst case scenario, I will buy one, but I would rather fab it up...we'll see.

Thanks,

Jon
