Idle control trouble code P0507
I live in West Africa and recently bought a 2001 sportage off a friend who was heading back to the US. The car now appears to be running on three or perhaps only two cylinders. The engine is on the point of stalling when at idle - to keep it going in traffic I have to turn off the a/c and rev the engine. There are four trouble codes: P0304 (cylinder #4), P0303 (cylinder #3), P0300 (multiple cylinder misfires) and P0507 (idle control system high RPM). The spark plugs are fine and the cat. converter was removed long ago. I am hoping that the new ignition coil and spark plug wires I ordered from the U.S. weeks ago will solve the misfire problems, wiping out codes P0304,P0303 and P0300. If not, then I'm not sure what to try next.
I don't know where the idle control high RPM code P0507 comes from. It is possible that someone adjusted the idle previously in an attempt to keep the car from stalling out. Are there other explanations for getting a P0507 code?
