Default removal of 5th/reverse spring plug

My friends: I took my car to change transmission oil and the mechanic remove the oil filler plug and also by mistake the 5th/reverse spring plug. The spring come out and he says that something else, maybe a steel ball or some dirt, come out too. After that he couldn´t find anything ( I mean this steel ball or dirt) and he toll me he put the spring and the plug back again. This is my concern:
1) I am not sure about if he really puts the spring back again. Car seems to be fine, and gears are working well. Can this mean he puts the spring back?
2) I am really worried that he maybe lost a piece (steel ball?) and that I will have problems later with transmission. Is this true?
I have check on GSW, but I am not sure about if there was a metal ball there or something else. Can anybody help me?.
