Default Fuel Filter quick release

Quick Release? I am trying to change the fuel filter on my 2001 Kia Spotage. I cant get the lines off. Has anyone had to change their fuel filter and if so how do you release these quick connects. Hasn't been a quick job so far. Any links or diagrams, instructions appreciated. Do you need a special tool. Going to try again today but it is hard to see connectors where it is located and don't want to break anything.

I'm not sure if this will help you but I had smilar problem on a Hyundai Tiburon. Turned out it was a factory defect. The line thread is just a little bit longer than the filter one and I guess what they do is they tighten the filter way too hard. This causes the line to flatten itself against the filter and it is a b*tch to take them apart. In my case nothing else helped but brute force. Then again it could be something completely different. Just figured I'd give my 2 cents on the topic

You have to squeeze the connector and pull at the same time. (don't pull too hard) Its a bit tough but once you get one off you'll find its not too difficult

Thanks for all the help. I finally got it. It is pretty easy once you fiqure out out to get them off. The hard part is getting your hands into the tight area.

The way to take them off is to push down towards the filter, then squeeze the sides and then pull off. May have to wiggle it a bit but don't use to much force should just pop off.

Kia actually came up with a special tool for the dealers to use to remove the filter. They were breaking fittings doing it by hand.
