Default Code P0440 on 2001 Kia Sportage EX

Hey guys, I had the "check engine" light on and used a U380 OBDII/EOBDII Memo Scanner and this is the code that came up

P0440 - EVAP Emission Control System Malfunction

Does anyone know what needs to get done?

Thanks in advance for all the info!

Check the gas cap first. If you are lucky the gas cap is just loose or the gasket is defective.

Thanks for the reply.

If it's the gasket, would an extremely limited mechanic like myself be able to fix it? If not how much does something like that cost?

Your gas cap is loose or faulty!

Make sure when you put it on after filling up you turn it a few times. I also spray mine with silicone once in a while.
