Default 2000 Sportage misfire cylinder 1

I have a 2000 kia sportage that has a error code PO301b misfire in cylinder 1. So far I have put new plugs wires and swaped the coils and cleared the codes. Still have the misfire and gives the same error code even though I have switched the coils. (one in place of the other) So this should rule out the coil being bad. My question is where to start next.

The number one cylinder should be the one closest to the radiator. Number 4 should be the one closest to the firewall.
Sounds like you have the electrical system covered. Another common cause of an individual cylinder misfire is related to an individual fuel injector problem. Did you happen to notice what the individual plugs looked like? Sometimes you can pull the plug in that cylinder and see if it's real wet or real dry in comparison to the others. This can give you an indication of what is causing the misfire. It sounds like you understand how to trouble shoot by replacing a suspect unit with a good one, you might try that with the injectors and see if the misfire moves to another cylinder. There is also a procedure for testing each fuel injector to determine if it's operating properly.

Thanks Bigdog did not check the plugs to see if they were wet or not. Will give the injectors a try tommorrow. How do I test the injectors? May try swithching them out to see if the misfire moves to another cylinder.

go to www.kiatechinfo.com and register for account access with your email address and a password. Once you gain access....Then select SHOP in the left menu. Then fill in the model"sportage(al)", year, engine, and option(2.0 DOHC). This will allow you access to the factory shop manual for your vehicle. Go to the fuel system section and then find the injector repair section. This section has a detailed explanation of how to test the injectors. Good luck, the shop manual is a great resource and well written.

Thanks for all the help guys figured it out today. Was a bit tricky as the code was a misfire Cylinder 1. Changed plugs and wires swaped coils and still had the misfire in cylinder one. Pulled the plug on cylinder one this morning and it was wet with gas. Checked it and it had zero fire. Checked the coil and there was fire. Turned out the spark plug wire part that goes into the engine was molded where the part that snaps on the top of the plug was to high in the mold to make contact with the plug. Quick trip to Autozone to change out the falty wires and I am on the road again.
