Default bushing at end of gear stick replacement??

Hi all

Has anybody had to replace the nylon/plastic bushing at the lower end of there manual gear stick. I had a lot of play in the stick, so i decided to take a look at the pin and fork linkage where the stick attaches to above the tranny. Found a very well worn and broken bushing. Rung Kia to see about a replacement bushing, but they only sell the complete stick. +$200 for the stick and bushing together. Does anyone know of one for another make that will fit?

By the way it is a '97 model, 5-speed.

Thanks

Default bushing

Hi there, one local auto parts sold me a pair of Mazda bushings (not sure what they were for, they are green nylon but he said there from Mazda truck) and I have had those for a couple of years. I think they're used on the stick shift Mazda trucks, maybe 626's too.

You will have to cut a small piece off the end so they will fit because they are a little too long, you'll need 2 (one on each side).

You can use a small section of fuel line! Just slip it over, cut it flush and throw in some greese, tightens up the shifs alot!

I replaced the bushings in my 99 sporty and it tightened the stick up a bit, but the stick in these vehicles is still pretty wide and long to start with. No way to change that, it's the nature of the design.
I replaced the shaft and the two bushings.
The shaft part number is 0K01117495A9(x1) and the bushing part number is 0K02A17489B(x2)
Check and see if your aplication uses a shaft and bushing and if it does these parts shoud work. The parts manual for the 97 does not list a bushing, but it does for 98. Let me know what you find.

why do I have to keep logging in?
anyway, I have just ordered the bushes and a new clip (lost one) from the dealers here in Australia, the bushes are costing about Aus $3 each, so are available.
My shift is very clunky and stiff, there is a lot of movement but the pin is ok so hopefully the bushes will help.
