So is it a SOHC? A broken belt does not necessarily mean you HAVE done damage, only that you MIGHT HAVE done damage, depending on where in the engine revolution the engine (cam system) stopped.
If it is a DOHC then I can
GUARANTEE it is NOT an interference engine, and that with the exception of a valve failure on its own, there should be no reason you could not slip a new belt on and away you go.
If your research is that the DOHC is interference then you haven't seen the Kia Manual (Stated "NON-INTERFERENCE). More than likely the Dealer has seen you coming and is going to extract you wallet through any bodily orifice he can find...
