Default Well finally think i figured it out VERY low vacuum

after taking the weekend off and mon, tues away from the kia i looked at it

i was asking myself what didnt i check

Engine vacuum

im getting about 10" at idle with no chance with any ports plugged up (brake booster, evap, pcv, etc)

I sprayed brake cleen around all gaskets and no change in idle so im sure its not a gasket leak

how can i tell if im looking at bad rings or just a valve job?

i took a vid of the gauge so you can get a better idea so let me know what you think

YouTube - vacume

A few from left field.......

leaking purge (carbon) canister?

vacuum hub solenoid broken?

Leaking resonance chambers (little black dangly bits along inlet manifold)?

IAC motor stuck open/leaking?

10" seems a bit low, (due to a leak rather than a blockage). Go through absolutely every vacuum hose attatched to the manifold and check thet they are not loose or perished both ends....

On the intake manifold there is a vaccum nipple that should have a cap on it, did you lose the cap? Sometimes you may not notice it's missing as it does not look out of place.

Just an idea, a partly blocked exhaust (catalyser or muffler). The pressure is oppose to vacuum and give a constant low vacuum reading. But i don't know if it is common on Sportage? Trying to help.
