OK, we have a 2002 SPortage (2 door) and the rear door light (dash light) came on and wouldnt shut off. We took it to a Kia Dealer and they said "Oh yeah, we fixed it... it was a bad wire in the door". Ok, I was happy with that....

Now, 3 months later I diconnected the battery to reset a code for Temp too cool (P0128) to see if it comes back on because that was the frst time we saw that code. I was prepared to change the thermostat if needed. However, after reconnecting the battery (I only removed the negative side to clear the P0128 code and all the sudden the rear door open light is back on and I double checked the door and it is shut.

So do you think the dealer pulled a fast one on me and somehow turned that light off with some gadget hooked up to the ECU? I find this very strange to say the least and the dealer is kind of shady as he told my friend that she needed new rotors and brakes to get inspected and we had them looked at by another reputable mechanic and he said they were fine and within requirements. We changed them anyway to satisfy KIA and then they pulled the "Oh, your front bearings are loose and need an adjustment". I think they are trying every trick in the book to screw people.
