Hi guys,

I just bought a 4 wire universal lambda sensor, does anybody know if it matters which way the 2 white wires (heater) go and how will I know if i get it wrong?. Its a bit silly making 2 wires the same colour

Thanks in advance

I replaced the O2 sensor on a Suzuki Sidekick several years with a universal sensor that had two wires as you describe. The instruction sheet with the sensor said the polarity was unimportant since the same-color wires go to a heater in the sensor to bring its temperature up faster so it can start working sooner after starting the engine.

Thanks For That,

Could anybody tell me which wires the black and grey wires connect to (ecu side)

To cut a long story short I no longer have the connector of the old oxygen sensor (it melted) and need to know which wires go to where

Its the O2 sensor in the manifold

Here's how I have currently wired it up:

Black (Signal) --> To wire going to ECU
Grey (Ground) --> Ground Wire
Both White --> To remaining 2 wires

It sounds right to me but could somebody confirm it

Thanks Guys

On the front sensor:
blk sensor to yel/wht (signal)
gry sensor to blu (signal gnd)
wht to lt grn/red (+12 V)
wht to red/grn (chassis gnd)

On the rear sensor:
blk sensor to blu (signal)
gry sensor to yel/wht (signal gnd)
wht to grn/blu (+12 V)
wht to blk/red (chassis gnd)

This info is from the wiring manual for my '96 Sportage. Sorry for the late reply, but I don't check the forum as often as I used to.
