sorry for posting more complaints...okay eventhough i still dont know if it is the timing belt or not i just wanted to add this...when i go to start the car when i push on the brake petal it is really hard like it doesnt want to go down at all...Is that normal and now that i tried so many times to start the kia up my battery is starting to die because im getting click click click now...and just to mention months ago around november i had a heavy gas smell in the car coming out of the vents but it went away and happened again shortly after but i havent smelled that since so could that be something serious as well.

this is great...i get to answer my own question.....LOL
anyway so far it is the timing belt after we followed the diy directions we took everything off and it is the timing belt that is damaged.....however we cant get the sucker back on so we dont know if thats the only thing thats causing all the trouble.so hopefully we will finish inbetween work.
