I have had to replace my clutch fan twice since I have owned my sportage. I think it is a known problem. Once that thing locks up you need to get it replaced ASAP, otherwise you will end up shooting pieces through the radiator and that will severely mess up your day!

Couldnt you just put an electric fan on it instead of a mechanical driven clutch fan? I mean, they make them small enough and I would think that a thin fan would fit between the radiator and motor. Also, the fan pulley is held on by nuts, so you could just take the fan off, screw the nuts back onto the studs to hold the pulley on, and put yourself an electric fan in there. Not only would it be more reliable than the standard cluth type fan (considering the clutch fan locks up), but it would save a bit of fuel mileage as well

I posed a fan question some 5 weeks ago, no one replied.

i guess every body his own.

I called the KIA delaler last monday for a fan that had cracks between each fin, some completely from front to rear. They said it was most liekly a job under warranty.
I did notice that the fan could be turned manuualy but was not free running...
I dropped it of at 07:30 am an thursday dec 15, got a call at 09:00 am.
Picked it up at noon, the bill was 0.00 US dollars, got a free coupon for an oil change.
The supervisor explained to me the reason why practically half of the fans show cracks after 30 K and most give up before the factory train warranty is over = thank god

I checked the new fan that included a complete new clutch and i can now spin the fan and will make a few runs. The old fan would only be moving when you pused it, aas soon as you released it it would stop.
by the way, the dealer = Car Pros of Tacoma.
