So, I had my 2000 Kia Sportage worked on and I don't have time to go to the dealership to have the Check Engine light shut off.

Does anyone know where it is? Is it a button? If not, what do I have to do?

Thanks!!

whom ever worked on it probaly left a plug or something undone if the CEL wasnt on before the work was done.If it was on then you will need to get it reset. The only way that i know how to reset it is with co de reader your local autoparts store should be able to do this for you for free only takes about a minute. You may try removeing you battery cable for about 10 minutes that may reset it also not sure on that one though.

Buy a code reader. it will read and clear check engine light. You can buy one for less than $40 on eBay. Look for OBD2 code scanner on alpha-bid store. After then you will be able to read and clear check engine light for all life long.

Do NOT buy the cheapie $40 OBD-II scanners sold on Flea-bay. They don't have all the required protocols to read across all possible manufacturer types and they won't work.

The best OBD-II scanners or code readers are made by Actron.

The check engine light can be reset by disconnecting the battery for about 10 minutes.
