Ok, I just traded in my Ford Ranger for a used 1999 Kia Sportage. It's in great condition, but it didn't include the manual to it.
My girlfriend's father also owns a 1999 Sportage, and says his has an alarm.
I have noticed that whenever I use the key to lock or unlock the door, it beeps once. I have heard his alarm (it malfunctions on his).
How exactly do I use this alarm?

Also, I was looking at the stock radio in my Sportage. Would I even need an aftermarket mounting kit if I wanted to put my own radio in there?

And one more question: I kept my old aftermarket speakers from my Ranger...I took the covers off the stock Sportage speakers and there are some screws in there that are almost impossible to reach. How would I go about installing my aftermarket speakers?

Any replies are appreciated

Hi
I have a 2001 Sportage that also beeps when I lock the door. It is an alarm but I have no idea if it is the original keyless entry. I had bought a kia remote on ebay with instructions haw to program it. There should be a button to program it so if you have that then it is the original alarm.

Haha yeah I tested the alarm last night and I must say it's not bad. My friend has a car lock picking set he bought in like Arkansas or something for $10. He looked into the guide that was included with it and read how to pick my Kia. So I activated the alarm, and let him pick the front passenger side door. As soon as he got it unlocked, the alarm went crazy!

I had my windows half way down and closed/locked the door with the key ... one beep.

Then, I reached inside and unlocked it by pulling up on the lock - WHAT A SURPRISE!! Honking and honking and honking!!

I don't know how it works, but obviously, it's a nice feature to have!
