I have a 1999 Sportage. I had a MAF code and then a misfire cyl #2 code. I swapped out the spark plugs wires and coils and the misfire is fixed. The MAF code is gone but the CEL is still on and its still the 0302 code but I know its fixed because it doesnt bog or jump anymore. The car will suddenly shift into a higher gear at cruising speeds with constant throttle then it will go back down in the gear it was and it will keep going back and forth into gears. It wont stop untill after i lift off the gas a little. I'll be cruising at 45 for example then suddenly it downshifts and the RPM's jump up to 3,000 then it will go back down to 2,200 then back up and so forth till I let off the gas. It only does it once and a while but it been more often than not. Any ideas on what it could be?

I've had the same problem with my 99 Sportage. I don't have the answer yet. I keep hearing that changing the wires and coils will help but haven't done it yet. Let me know if you find anything that works.
